Both of our legacy communities have long histories, some of it recorded in Ha-Etz and Bimah (the magazines of the legacy communities) or within other archived materials. However, a lot of our communal history and heritage is also within the memories of our members.
As our new community develops and creates its own identity, we need to ensure that our collective communal memories are retained and archived for future generations.
We are, therefore, planning to work with Eastside Community Heritage along with the archives and histories team at the London Borough of Redbridge on an oral history project. It is envisaged that the material collected by the oral history project, along with other archival and historic records, will form a digital archive - preserving the past for future generations.
