ELELS offers a range of adult education opportunities, from Ulpan Hebrew, to our Conversion Course (Access to Judaism), Torah Study and more. All of which have now moved online. For information on any of these courses contact email@example.com. Our courses include the following:
Modern Hebrew Ulpan
Want to speak Hebrew like an Israeli? Our Beginners and Lower Intermediate classes are taught on Zoom on Wednesday evenings by Hagi Cohen. These are 30 week courses sponsored by the WZO, and though they began in January/February, if your level is a fit with one of the classes and there is space, you are welcome to join. For more information, click here.
Rosh Chodesh Group
This group is led monthly by Student Rabbi Eleanor Davis. The group explores Biblical women and modern women's issues through text and discussion, usually on Tuesday or Wednesday nights. New members are very welcome to join the group.
Conversion Course/Access to Judaism
This course continues online, offered in conjunction with two other local progressive Synagogues. Sessions take place on Wednesday nights and include Hebrew reading, and a curriculum of Jewish Studies. Click here for more information.
Learn Together/Grow Together- Genealogy
Elliot Porte is offering a short course on Genealogy over three Thursdays in May as part of our Learn Together/Grow Together series. For more information, please click on on this page.
Torah Study Sessions
All of our Shabbat online services include time for participants to go into small group breakout rooms to discuss themes arising from the week's Torah/Haftarah. These sessions are proving to be among the most popular parts of our services.
In addition, once per month we hold a Shabbat Service that includes an extended time spent studying the week's Torah portion. Our next Torah Study service is on Saturday 10th May led by Rabbi Richard Jacobi.
