A Day of Celebration – A Weekend of Activities
Liberal Judaism’s Day of Celebration is fast becoming a weekend of celebration with events now planned for the whole weekend of 9-11 June. The full programme for the Day of Celebration, including how to book your tickets, can be found at: https://ljdayofcelebration2017.sched.com/
EL2 is looking into providing financial assistance and possibly a mini-bus for those going to the Day of Celebration and any of our choristers (or others) who wish to take part in the Day of Liberal Jewish Music. Please contact the office if you are interested in finding out more information.
Here is the latest information from LJ on everything they are planning for the weekend.
Friday 9th June – Special Friday Night Service
They will be a special Erev Shabbat service at London’s vibrant new Liberal Jewish community – details are still in the process of being confirmed, so keep an eye on social media and weekly e-bulletins for more information!
Saturday 10th June – Day of Liberal Jewish Music 2017
A day to explore and share Liberal Jewish Music, open to all LJ community members whether you are a singer, music leader, instrumentalist, or just interested to learn some songs; with a variety of workshops including:
- Traditional LJ choral music
- Composition workshop
- Showcase of LJY-Netzers songs and chants
- Accompanying Shul music with keyboard and other instruments
Its going to be a great chance to work with a wide range of homegrown LJ Music Leaders, and bring new ideas to the table to celebrate Liberal Jewish Music traditions. LJ will prepare music to be presented at the Day of Celebration on Sunday 11 June – including the winning entries of the LJ Music Composition Competition. Sunday 11th June – Liberal Judaism’s Day of Celebration 2017
‘Is Liberal Judaism Political Judaism?’
LJ has announced two fantastic keynote speakers, Lord Alf Dubs and Rev. Rose Hudson-Wilkin; alongside a range of session speakers and leaders. We will share more information about these speakers on social media and e-bulletins as they become available; also look out for an upcoming LJ Today featuring information comment from Rabbi Aaron Goldstein and Rabbi Danny Rich on this years theme.

Submissions are still being accepted for the LJ Day of Celebration Art Exhibition. They do not have to be based on this year’s theme (although this is obviously encouraged!) and will be on display in the NPLS Etz Chayim Gallery throughout the day.
