Purim & Shabbat Services

Unless otherwise stated, all services are at Marlborough Road with Erev Shabbat services starting at 8:00 pm and Shabbat morning services starting at 10:45 am

Torah Scroll & Yad

Wednesday 20th March: We have an Erev Purim service at 7:30 pm – including the traditional reading of the Megillah

Friday 22nd March: Erev Shabbat service led by Rabbi Richard Jacobi

Saturday 23rd March: Shabbat morning service led by Rabbi Richard Jacobi, with Torah reading from Leviticus 25: 1-24

The service includes the naming ceremony and baby blessing for Annabel & Alexa Duck, along with the presentation of a cheque to Parent Circe one of the recipients of our High Holy Days appeal

Cheder

Saturday 23rd March: Cheder classes continue this week with assembly at the usual time of 10:20 am

Adult Education

Wednesday 20th March: Due to the Erev Purim service, there is no Adult Education session this week. The weekly sessions on Why is the night different from all other nights will resume next week on Wednesday 27th at 7:30 pm

Forthcoming Events

Thursday 21st March – East London Three Faiths Forum: A panel of speakers from the three faiths will be discussing Transgender Issues at St Paul’s Church, Goodmayes, IG3 8XF starting at 8:00 pm

Friday 12th April: Ater the Erev Shabbat service, Alysa Hulbert will be speaking at an Oneg about her recent two-month voyage in the Antarctic ocean

Pesach & Communal Seder

This year the first night of Pesach falls on Friday 19th April – the ELELS Communal Seder will be on the second night, Saturday 20th April at Clore Tikva School starting at 5:45 pm. Once again we are offering a catered option (fried fish or vegetarian) or you can self-cater (Pesach-appropriate fish, diary or vegetarian only). The cost is Adults £25/Children £15 (catered) or Adults £10/Children Free (self-catered) – eggs in salt-water, Matzah, Seder plates, wine or grape juice and soft-drinks provided. As usual we will be using the LJ Hagaddah – please contact the office to book you place or purchase copies of the LJ Hagaddah (copies available at £8.50 per copy).

Lehrhaus @ Leo Baeck College

The spring term at Lehrhaus offers courses at Leo Baeck College, South London Liberal Synagogue and online – further details can be found our Events Page

South Woodford Station

Work to improve the westbound entrance to South Woodford Station has now finished and the entrance has reopened
