Food is such an important part of Jewish life and culture. We love to eat it, share it, gather around it and prepare it. At ELELS we have held a number of online cook-along sessions led by our members, but new for 2021 we have a course led by Silvia Nacamulli, a top professional chef. Read on to learn more.
Italian Jewish Cookery Course, with Silvia Nacamulli over 4 Sundays across January-March 2021
This is the chance for experienced and less experienced chefs among us to cook along with and/or learn from a top professional chef over 4 informal and relaxed sessions. Silvia will be preparing authentic Jewish Italian cuisine; a risotto, a fish dish, a chicken dish and, in the final week, dessert!
Course dates: Sundays Jan 24th, Feb 7th & 21st and March 7th
Cost: £10 for the course for ELELS members, £20 for non-members
Week 1: Risotto and side dish
Porcini mushrooms risotto
Sautéed broccoli with garlic and chilli
Week 2: Chicken and side dish
Chicken breast with pomegranate and honey
Week 3: Fish and side dish
Salmon fillets with cherry tomato, fresh herbs and white wine
Roast sweet potatoes with fresh herbs
Week 4: Dessert
Lemon amaretti biscuits
Silvia is a chef of international renown who writes regularly for the Jewish Chronicle and has featured in Elle magazine. Her speciality is old Italian dishes that people associate with Italy but didn’t realise have their origins in Jewish cuisine- and this is what she will be sharing with us.
